Founded in March 2020 by us, Ellis McKeown and Liam Stemson, Fairham Distillery is named after the birth place of our Signature Edition on Fairham Avenue in Penwortham. After converting our unused outhouse into a small distilling room, this is where the recipe of our first release was constructed.
A love of gin, to a passion of creating truly small batch, authentic, natural and flavour FULL Editions. Made the Fairham way and always crafted with taste in mind.
what made you get into gin?
The one question we always get asked. Well, first and foremost, it was because we enjoyed drinking the stuff. Our preference has always been more traditional styles of gin and found it hard finding a middle ground between traditional and flavoured. The more flavoured, the less traditional.
And that’s where we found our gap.
Back in late 2019 we started researching and learning more about the spirit we loved. Lockdown hit in March 2020 which gave us more time at home to focus on our gin passion, turning our then unused outhouse into a small distilling room housing a 3 litre copper pot still for recipe development.
After 12 months of development and botanical testing, we finally cracked it with our first release in April 2021. To make sure what we were producing was of high quality, we reached out to renowned consultant master distiller Gerard Macluskey, who has guided and mentored us along the way.
Using particular methods to make Fairham Gin true to us, each of our core Editions are distilled in our copper pot traditional stills using a one-shot method. This means that the liquid you find in each bottle is coming directly from the still, boasting an unrivalled all natural and authentic taste.
